Traffic coordination and scheduling work proved to be the most challenging aspects of the athletic site improvements at Mesa’s Westwood High School according to Grady Artaz, project superintendent with Concord General Contracting. “All the trades had to work on top of each other,” he says. “I am very blessed with all the effort that the trades gave to make this big of a project work amongst the tight nine-week schedule, and the extreme summer heat.”
Work encompassed upgrades throughout the campus such as screen walls on roofs, painting, new parking lots, screen walls with decorative metal, new signage, and new entrances at all the fields. Subcontractors on the project include JBJ Electric, Ace Asphalt, Cruz Concrete, RNR Steel Erection, Progressive Roofing, S&S Paving, Crout & Heller Painting.
