Construction on a new retail mixed-use center called The Block is underway at Pima Center at Loop 101 between the Via de Ventura and 90th Street/Pima Road. MainSpring Capital and Forum Capital broke ground on the 22-acre project in June, and have begun infrastructure construction and grading of the full site.
The Block will contain 35,000 square feet of shop space designed for fast casual lunch and dinner users, and 60,000 square feet for office and hospitality space. A freeway monument sign will sit along Loop 101 to get the word out for The Block's tenants.
MainSpring Capital Group Principal Curtis Brown said he is excited to bring retail services and a hospitality component to Pima Center's daytime employee population of 3,800 people, as well as add options to the Salt River Pima Community's recreation corridor.
"Our hotel will be co-branded featuring two brands within one development. Our retail component is already more than 50 percent committed with numerous food and beverage options along with a handful of personal services shops and stores," he said.
The project is expected to wrap up in the first quarter of 2018.
"The architectural design incorporates cultural elements of the Salt River Pima people. The colors and materials will be consistent with the overall Pima Center guidelines," Brown said.
Pima Center is North Scottsdale’s largest and most successful mixed-use business park with 1.4 million square feet already developed. The Block at Pima Center will occupy approximately 22 acres of the park on the northwest corner of Loop 101 and Via De Ventura.
