Last fall, Diamondback Materials acquired their first aggregate facility on the southwestern corner of Southern and El Mirage roads. “We have been a fortunate lessee and client of Circle H Sand and Rock from our humble beginnings,” says Jim Latto, Diamondback Materials spokesperson. “Our business model has always had the vision of purchasing this 80-acre site in the future. The timeline to make this happen became a priority more quickly than anticipated.”

Latto goes on to say the company’s expansion had its challenges but was worth it. “Through dedication, hard work, some pain and suffering with bumps and bruises we have achieved a tremendous milestone for our company,” he says. “Owning and operating our own aggregate source not only increases our ability to control the quality of our ready-mix products but it opens additional business opportunities.”

The aggregate facility is unusual in the way the sand and gravel is mined. “We are one of the few ready-mix producers that use a “dredge” system to extract aggregates, due to the fact we are mining below the water table,” Latto adds.

This purchase will solidify Diamondback Materials position in the West Valley for decades. For additional information about the company that is headquartered at 11435 W. Buckeye Road #104-276 in Avondale, contact Latto at 602-696-4139 or jim@azdbm.com
