Skanska has commenced work on EdgeCore Mesa’s facility located at 3856 South Everton Terrace. The official groundbreaking for the first phase of the project was Wednesday, March 7.
Phase one, a $22 million construction project, consists of development of a 25-acre site into the first of a seven-building data center. The project includes site work, underground utilities, a 200,000 square foot, two-story precast building, electrical and mechanical equipment, platforms and generators.
“Business is increasingly dependent on the Cloud,” said Skanska Executive Vice President and General Manager Ross Vroman. “We know EdgeCore and its customers are depending on this facility for a variety of services and we’re excited to enable new possibilities for them.
EdgeCore is a Denver-based data center developer. Besides, Mesa, its initial development plans include data centers in Dallas and Reno. The Mesa location was an attractive site because of its access to power, water and fiber infrastructure.
Skanska, which has been active in both the building and civil construction markets in Phoenix for many years, is based at 4742 North 24th Street in Phoenix, just south of Camelback Road. It has a wealth of experience in the data center and larger mission critical sectors, including other data center work in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
