"Hite" Grows on Phoenix

The late Utah Jazz head coach Frank Layden famously quipped, "You can't teach height."

But back in 1963, "Hite" did grow on Phoenix in the form of Henry Hite, publicized as the world's tallest man. Touring the Valley as the "Corn King Giant" for Wilson's Corn King Meats, Hite increased sales 400 percent in five months.

Read more about Hite's time in the Valley and his intriguing life in the "Back When" column of the May/June issue of Arizona Contractor & Community magazine.
