Arizona Contractor & Community magazine had a major presence at the 2018 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference held at the iconic Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale this week.
The magazine had it's own session promoting the magazine that highlights new construction projects alongside articles about the rich history of the state’s building industry. The bi-monthly magazine distributes 5,200 copies to Arizona construction firms and municipalities. Despite the publication’s success, many architects and preservationists were unaware of this valuable resource, in circulation since 2012.
Editor Douglas Towne talked about the “perfect storm” that brought the magazine together and how to contribute to this vital forum. Architect and Columnist Douglas Sydnor FAIA discussed Arizona architecture that is featured; and Historian Donna Reiner presented the highlights of her well-researched subjects.
The conference was an especially big occasion for Sydnor, the magazine's architecture columnist, as he gave three presentations and was honored with the prestigious "Governor's Heritage Preservation Award." Congratulations, Doug!
