Rosendin Electric Finds Success by Developing Leaders Within its Ranks

Rosendin Electric, the electrical contracting industry’s largest employee-owned firm, is ensuring its future success by valuing the people who make up the company. One example is Ben Mlinar, who has been with Rosendin for the last eight years and has rapidly increased his responsibility within the company. Initially starting out as a Project Assistant in 2010, Mlinar has received four promotions during his career at Rosendin and now serves as a Site Manager where he oversees 30 office employees and 420 field personnel.

“Finding quality talent for high level roles in the construction trades can be a challenge, especially as the industry in Arizona continues to grow,” said Brandon Stephens, Division Manager for Rosendin Electric’s Arizona operations. “As an employee-owned company, we solve this problem by prioritizing our people and employees, identifying and encouraging leaders from the moment they join Rosendin. This strategy has worked to develop employees like Ben Mlinar into integral leaders within our company who will ensure our success in the future.”

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Arizona construction industry added 18,000 jobs in 2018, more new jobs than any other industry in the state.

In addition to offering Mlinar career growth opportunities, Rosendin is sponsoring Mlinar to participate in the Arizona Builders Alliance’s (ABA) Leadership Development Forum. The ABA Leadership Development Forum is an exclusive year-long intensive management education program with the goal of developing construction professionals into informed, knowledgeable and active members of the industry while preparing them for future leadership roles within their companies. Mlinar is one of 30 participants who were selected to be part of the 2019 cohort.

“Rosendin Electric has offered me every opportunity to grow my knowledge, skills, and leadership within the company and construction industry,” said Ben Mlinar, Site Manager for Rosendin Electric. “The ABA’s Leadership Development Forum will help me gain a greater understanding of construction outside of electrical contracting, and the skills and knowledge I will gain from the program will help me to achieve my goal of one day becoming an executive with Rosendin and serve as an advocate for the construction industry as a whole.”

The first class for the 2019 ABA Leadership Development Forum was on January 4, 2019, and classes will run on the first Friday of every month through December. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be recognized at a graduation celebration in December.
