WHAT:
Salt River Project commercial customers looking to reduce energy costs are invited to participate in an innovative program to help businesses achieve sustainability and financial goals. On Jan. 29, SRP is launching its Business Demand Response program in conjunction with Enel X, the global leader in demand response. SRP and Enel X are working together to provide a Business Demand Response program that pays companies to temporarily reduce energy use when called upon because of situations that impact the grid, including extreme summer weather, wholesale price spikes or unexpected system issues. By participating, a business can earn payments without foregoing operational reliability while also helping SRP strengthen its grid and increase sustainability efforts. Organizations with large buildings and a high-energy spend are good candidates. Many organizations in manufacturing, cold storage, government and education currently work with Enel X to earn payments through demand response programs worldwide. Demand Response participants receive advanced notice of potential events, enabling them to proactively prepare their facilities. Incentives for participation are customized to each company based on the scope of their plan and ability to allow for temporary control over energy usage during the high-peak summer season from noon to 9 p.m. during the May 15 to October 15 timeframe.
DETAILS:
Ideal Demand Response candidates include:
Large- and mid-size commercial customers with peak loads of at least 100 kilowatts
SRP customers not currently on interruptible price plans
SRP's Demand Response program also helps enable the not-for-profit utility to meet increased electricity demand during the summer months in a more sustainable way and without the need to build new power infrastructure.
